The sun is already high in the sky when we meet in Taormina. They get into our car with driver, greeted by the now-familiar comfort of our service. The destination? Sicilia Outlet Village, near Agira, in the heart of the Sicilian hinterland.

— "After all this walking, I'd say we deserve a break among shop windows and sales," jokes Giuseppe, buckling his seatbelt.

— "It feels like I'm in a chic village dedicated entirely to fashion," Anna comments, trying on a dress in one of the many stores.
— "And look here: my favorite brand with a 50% discount!" Giuseppe exclaims with enthusiasm.

Between a purchase and a break at the outdoor cafes, time flies. Around one o'clock, we meet for lunch at a restaurant inside the Village. A fresh salad for Anna, a plate of pasta for Giuseppe, and, of course, a good glass of Sicilian wine.

— "Did you know that this part of Sicily also surprises me?" says Anna. "Who would have thought to find such a well-kept and relaxing place among the hills?"

🕍 From the Outlet to history: the Cathedral of Enna awaits us

After lunch, we suggest an unexpected but, in our opinion, unmissable stop: a visit to the Cathedral of Enna, one of Sicily's lesser-known but most fascinating jewels.

— "We're not far from Enna," we explain, "and its Cathedral is considered one of the most beautiful in Italy. Do you want to take a quick trip before we head back?"
— "Absolutely!" they respond in unison.

In less than half an hour, we are in Enna. The city, nicknamed the "balcony of Sicily," is located about 931 meters above sea level and is the highest of the Sicilian provinces.

The car gently climbs up to the historic center. In front of us stands the imposing Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Enna, dedicated to the Most Holy Mary of the Visitation.

— "Wow... that's a triumphant entrance," says Giuseppe as he approaches the steps.
— "It looks like it's straight out of a movie," adds Anna, enchanted by the details of the facade.

Inside, the Cathedral is an explosion of art and spirituality. The richly decorated naves, the frescoes, the marble altars, and the play of natural light create a mystical and solemn atmosphere.

The visit becomes almost a moment of reflection. No one speaks for a while. Just the rustle of footsteps on the floor and the distant sound of an organ being practiced.

— "I didn't expect so much beauty in such a little-advertised place," Anna whispers.
— "That's what I love about Southern Italy," adds Giuseppe. "Beauty is everywhere, even where you least expect it."

🌄 A return journey between nature and silence

The road towards Taormina in the late afternoon is enveloped in the warm light of sunset. The hills turn golden, and the first lights of the villages turn on in the distance. In the car, the silence is typical of a successful day.

Anna leans against the window. Giuseppe scrolls through the photos they took during the day on his phone.

— "You know, I can't wait to tell our friends about this," he says.
— "With all the things we did today, it felt like we lived two days in one," she replies.
