Savoca: Between Film, Silence, and Authentic Sicily
A small village, a big Sicilian heart. Ciro and Elisa had no doubts. After Etna and Taormina, they wanted to discover the most authentic Sicily, the one far from the roar of the crowds, made of silent alleys, breathtaking views, and stories to tell.
And so, today, we accompany them to Savoca, a small medieval village suspended in time, between the hills and the sea, just a few kilometers from Taormina.

Sitting under the bougainvillea-covered porch, Ciro and Elisa sip a lemon granita, immersed in the atmosphere of times gone by. Inside the bar, photographs and memorabilia tell of the presence of Coppola and Al Pacino in Savoca, but the village is not just about its cinematic myth.
We continue on foot, through stone alleys and Sicilian-style houses. We visit the Church of San Nicolò, the very one where Michael Corleone married Apollonia in the film. From the terrace, the view extends to the sea, and the silence is broken only by the sound of cicadas.
“This is the true luxury of travel,” murmurs Ciro, “being able to listen to the silence.”
Savoca: not just cinema, but history and spirituality
Beyond the film set, Savoca holds a thousand-year-old history. We visit the Capuchin Crypt, where well-preserved mummies dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries rest. An intense experience, that makes you reflect on the transience of life and the power of memory.
