The sun is already high when our driver arrives punctually at the entrance of the hotel in Taormina. Michele and Brigitte are ready, with straw hats and sunglasses, smiling and full of energy.

“Bonjour!” Brigitte greets with enthusiasm, getting into the car.
“I'm so excited, today we're going to Syracuse, right?”

“Yes, we're going to explore one of the most glorious cities in Mediterranean history,” Michele replies, visibly proud. “And then Ortigia… an island within an island.”

The car sets off silently, traveling along the panoramic southeastern coast, past citrus groves and glimpses of the sea. Thanks to our car rental service with driver, the two can relax and enjoy the journey without a care, letting themselves be lulled by the scenery and the words of our driver who, as always, is also a discreet and competent guide.

🚘 The Value of Comfortable, Stress-Free Travel

“No worries about parking, itineraries, or schedules,” Michele says as he settles into the back seat.
“Just the beauty of the journey,” Brigitte adds, snapping a photo of the Ionian coast.

Our rental with driver allows travelers to experience every moment with leisure and quality, free from the fatigue of driving or the worries of logistics. It's a choice that transforms a transfer into an essential part of the journey.

🏛️ The Neapolis Archaeological Park

The first stop of the day is the renowned Neapolis Archaeological Park, one of Sicily’s most extensive and captivating sites.

As they walk through the tree-lined avenues, Brigitte asks:
“But is this where the famous Greek theater is?”

“Exactly,” Michele replies. “And not only that. You'll also see the Ear of Dionysius and the Altar of Hieron.”

Arriving at the Greek Theater, they fall silent for a moment. Carved into the living rock, with a breathtaking view of the sea, it is one of the symbols of ancient Syracuse. Here Aeschylus staged his tragedies and Hellenic culture shone as in few other cities of the ancient world.

“Imagine hearing an actor's voice echo among these stones… two thousand years ago,” Michele whispers.
Brigitte is awestruck:
“It’s impressive. Je ne savais pas que la Sicile avait un tel passé grec.”

A short distance away, the Ear of Dionysius, an artificial cave 23 meters high, intrigues Brigitte. Legend has it that the tyrant Dionysius used it to eavesdrop on prisoners’ conversations, thanks to its exceptional acoustics.

“Listen to how it reverberates,” Michele says, raising his voice. The echo is astonishing.

🌉 Ortigia: The Sacred Island

After visiting the archaeological park, the car takes them to Ortigia, the ancient heart of Syracuse.
They cross the Umbertino bridge, and Brigitte is enchanted:
“This little island has something magical. So small and so intense.”

They stroll through the cobbled streets, past baroque palaces, silent courtyards, and the scent of the sea. Our driver conveniently drops them off in Piazza Duomo, the island's white and luminous heart, and waits nearby, ready to resume the journey as soon as they are.

The Syracuse Cathedral, built on the Doric temple of Athena, is an extraordinary example of historical layering: from Greek temple to Christian church, then Byzantine, Arab, Norman, and Baroque.
Brigitte observes the still visible Doric columns:
“C’est incroyable. Grecs, Romains, Arabes, Normands… tout le monde est passé par ici!”

“This is the charm of Sicily,” Michele replies. “Every stone tells a thousand stories.”

💧 The Arethusa Spring: Between Myth and Nature

Walking along the promenade, the two stop at the Arethusa Spring, a small freshwater basin overlooking the sea, where papyrus grows spontaneously.

“Here, according to myth, the nymph Arethusa transformed into a spring to escape the god Alpheus,” Michele recounts.
Brigitte hangs on his every word, captivated by the tale:
“It’s like walking into a fairy tale.”

🍽️ A Lunch with a Sea View

For lunch, they choose a charming restaurant on the promenade, where the scent of freshly grilled fish blends with the sea breeze. Mazara prawns, fish couscous, caponata, and a glass of white Etna wine.

Brigitte relaxes, resting her head on Michele's shoulder:
“Thank you for bringing me here.”

Michele smiles:
“And thanks to those who guide us every day with care and discretion.”
A clear reference to the comfort of our car rental service with driver, which allows them to enjoy every day stress-free, with a driver who becomes part of the experience.

🌇 The Return Journey with an Etna View

After an afternoon spent strolling through Ortigia and some artisanal shopping in the typical boutiques, the two return to the car, welcomed by the cool interior and the kindness of our driver.

The return journey towards Taormina is serene. The sun slowly descends behind Mount Etna, and Brigitte snaps a photo from the window.

“I’ll never forget this day,” she says.
“And it’s not over yet,” Michele replies. “Tomorrow… Noto!”
