Randazzo and Capo d’Orlando Tour: history, nature, and sea with a private chauffeur

Today begins with an unexpected request from Massimo and Valeria. Yesterday, while crossing the Nebrodi Park, they noticed Randazzo but were unable to stop. Struck by the medieval atmosphere they could sense even from the car, they asked us to return to truly experience the soul of this historic town.

Thanks to our car hire with driver service in Sicily, we quickly leave Taormina behind and head up towards the northern slopes of Mount Etna. Randazzo welcomes us with its lava stone streets, ancient palaces, and three main churches: Santa Maria, San Nicola, and San Martino, each historically belonging to a different religious rite.

📍 Randazzo: the black city at the foot of Etna

"It’s incredible, it looks like a small Jerusalem," Valeria comments as we walk along Corso Umberto, the beating heart of the historic center.

Our visit is enriched with local stories: we discover that Randazzo, thanks to its strategic position, was a cultural crossroads between Arabs, Byzantines, Jews, and Latins during the Norman era. We visit the Swabian Castle, which houses the Archaeological Museum, and take a short break in one of the historic local wine shops for a glass of Etna DOC wine, renowned worldwide.

🌲 Through the Nebrodi to the sea

After a light lunch in a typical trattoria — where we taste fresh pasta with mushrooms and ricotta — we resume our journey, this time crossing the Nebrodi Park once again, but from west to east. On board our comfortable and air-conditioned vehicle, Massimo and Valeria are enchanted by the green and pristine landscapes, the ancient trees, and the streams flowing silently under old stone bridges.

"Sicily completely changes its face here," says Massimo. "It feels like being in a small Switzerland… but with the soul of the South."

The road, though slower, is a true journey into beauty: between panoramic curves, flocks of sheep at pasture, and postcard-perfect views, we finally arrive at Capo d’Orlando, a splendid town overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

🌊 Capo d’Orlando: sea, sunsets, and silence

Waiting for us is a long golden beach, an elegant promenade, and a spectacular view of the Aeolian Islands. The sea is calm, and the afternoon light tints the building facades with gold. Valeria takes off her sandals and walks along the shoreline.

"We were right to come here. It is the perfect synthesis of Sicily: sea, mountains, culture… and silence," she says.

We relax with a walk, an artisanal gelato, and some shopping among the local boutiques. Towards evening, we dine at a restaurant by the sea: fresh fish, local white wine, and the sight of a sun diving into the water.

At 9:00 PM we depart, taking the A20 towards Messina, then heading down the Ionian coast back to Taormina. The day ends with smiles and gratitude.

Thanks to our private chauffeur service (NCC), Massimo and Valeria experienced an entire day of discovery and relaxation, without stress or worries.
