🌊 The Ionian cliff awaits us!  The sun shines high over Taormina as Maurizio and Salvina, fresh from breakfast, board our chauffeured car, ready for a new day of discovery.

After the extraordinary experience on Etna, today our itinerary will take them along the Ionian coast, to one of the most fascinating and mythical stretches of Sicily: the Cyclops Riviera, from Aci Castello to the Timpa of Acireale.

"We read about Aci Trezza and the legends of Ulysses," says Maurizio, as the car heads south along the SS114. "But we didn't think it was so close to Catania."

"Nor did we think it could be visited so comfortably, without having to drive or look for parking," Salvina adds with a smile. Our driver responds with a gentle nod from the rearview mirror.

πŸ›οΈ Aci Castello: a castle between lava and sea

The first stop is Aci Castello, a small village built around a rock of volcanic origin. The Norman Castle, built in the 11th century on solidified lava, stands imposingly over the sea.

"It looks like something out of a medieval movie," exclaims Salvina as they get out of the car. "And look at that view!"

Inside the castle, now transformed into a museum, they admire the archaeological and naturalistic exhibits. But the real attraction is the panoramic terrace, from which you can dominate the intense blue of the sea and, further north, catch a glimpse of the stacks of Aci Trezza.

"According to legend," explains our driver as he accompanies them through the alleys of the village, "these rocks were thrown by Polyphemus against Ulysses' ship, fleeing after blinding him."

πŸ›³οΈ Aci Trezza: myth takes shape

A few minutes later, the car takes them to Aci Trezza. The small harbor and its black stacks emerging from the sea have a surreal appearance.

"Here they are! The Cyclops' stacks!" exclaims Maurizio, immediately grabbing his phone to take a photo.

They sit at a bar with a sea view for an almond granita and brioche, while listening with curiosity to the local stories.

"It is said that the Cyclops, mythological one-eyed giants, lived here," the driver recounts. "And the myth of Aci, a shepherd in love with the nymph Galatea and killed out of jealousy by the Cyclops Polyphemus, is still alive in the hearts of the people."

They walk along the promenade, among colorful boats and fishermen mending nets. Every corner tells a story, every glimpse is poetry. "It's so picturesque," says Salvina. "And so authentic."

🌿 The Timpa of Acireale: unspoiled nature and breathtaking views

The journey continues towards the Timpa of Acireale, a lava ridge covered with vegetation overlooking the sea.

"The Timpa is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in eastern Sicily," explains the driver as they venture onto a panoramic path. "A place where nature has reclaimed its spaces."

From the Belvedere, the view is extraordinary: the sea plays with the cliffs and currents, while the houses of Acireale seem embraced by the greenery.

"I didn't think there was such a variety of landscapes in so few kilometers," Maurizio comments.

They stop for a few minutes in a small, shaded clearing. Salvina pulls out a paper guide, marked with annotations. "I had read about the Timpa, but experiencing it is something else entirely."

πŸš— Travel worry-free with a Chauffeur Service: the luxury of relaxation

The return journey is calm, unhurried. In the air-conditioned car, surrounded by comfort and soft music, Maurizio and Salvina exchange grateful glances.

"It's all so simple, yet so intense," says Maurizio. "We are experiencing the Sicily we had only imagined."

"And we owe it to you too," Salvina adds, addressing our driver. "It's thanks to your way of accompanying travelers, with discretion and competence."

✨ Every day a new emotion

The day ends with a toast on the terrace, with a sea view. The sun slowly sets behind Etna, which silently watches over the coast from afar.
